There are two new ways you can get involved in keeping the Ryde’s beaches, parks and streets free from litter.
Look out for the newly launched #2MinuteBeachClean board on Appley Beach and a #2MinuteLitterPick board in the town centre which make it easy for anyone to do a quick clean-up. The boards have everything needed for someone to do a quick two-minute litter pick including litter pickers and bags to put the rubbish in. The board is being hosted by Ryde Inshore Rescue.
Ryde Library now has 20 litter pickers in stock, so if you would like to borrow one for your own litter picking just pop into the library when it is open. If you would like to borrow the entire stock of litter pickers for a clean-up please contact the library in advance.
The two initiatives launched as part of the We Love Ryde campaign have been funded by donations from the Goodleaf Tree Climbing Vertical Marathon and Ryde Town Council. The project is also being supported by Planet Aware and Ryde Business Association.
If you borrow a litter picker or do a 2 minute clean up please share a photo with the hashtags #WeLoveRyde #LitterLenders. Happy litter picking!
About the 2 Minute Beach Clean Boards
The idea of the beach clean station was conceived in Bude in 2014 by Kim Stevens and Deb Rosser as a way of making it easier for everyone to do their bit. They placed their first beach clean station at Crooklets beach in Bude in September 2014. The board was funded by Surfdome and Beach Care. Since then they have placed over 250 beach clean boards across the UK and Ireland. For more information: https://beachclean.net/
